Alexei Nikolajewitsch Kudaschow ( Russian Алексей Николаевич Кудашов ; born July 21, 1971 in Elektrostal , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who won two Russian championship titles with the HK Dynamo Moscow and OHK Dynamo in the course of his career .

Career

As a player

Alexei Kudaschow began his career as a hockey player with Kristall Elektrostal , for which he was active from 1986 to 1989 in the Wysschaja Liga , the highest Soviet league. He then moved to Krylya Sowetow Moscow for five years . During this time he was selected in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round as a total of 102nd player by the Toronto Maple Leafs , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 1993/94 season . After the Russian in the following two seasons exclusively in the American Hockey League for the St. John's Maple Leafs and Carolina Monarchs got on the ice, he returned to Europe, where he worked until 1997 for the Düsseldorf EG in the German Ice Hockey League played .

After one year each at TPS Turku from the Finnish SM-liiga and Ak Bars Kazan from the Russian Super League , the right-handed shooter switched to their league rivals HK Dynamo Moscow , with whom he became Russian champions for the first time in 2000 . In the 2004/05 season, the former NHL player was only used sporadically by Dynamo, so he moved to their city neighbor HK CSKA Moscow , where he stayed for the following one and a half seasons.

The 2006/07 season began Kudaschow at Chimik Moskowskaja Oblast , before moving to Lokomotive Yaroslavl during the season , with whom he was runner-up in 2008 and 2009 respectively. In addition, the attacker took part in the 2009 KHL All-Star Game , which was held for the first time . For the 2009/10 season he moved within the Continental Hockey League to HK MWD Balaschicha , with whom he was also runner-up in 2010. Following the season, the team merged with HK Dynamo Moscow and Kudaschow received a contract with its successor team OHK Dynamo , for which he played until 2012 and with which he won the Gagarin Cup in 2012 . After this success he ended his playing career and became an assistant coach at Atlant Mytishchi .

International

For the USSR , Kudashov took part in the U20 Junior World Championships in 1990 and 1991 . For Russia , the striker played at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , as well as the 1998 , 1999 and 2000 World Championships .

As a trainer

After a series of defeats at the beginning of the 2013/14 season, head coach Sergei Swetlow was dismissed along with Alexander Nesterow and Alexei Kudaschow was promoted to head coach. He held this post until the end of the 2014/15 season, before Atlant retired from the game and Kudaschow became head coach at Lokomotive Yaroslavl . Kudaschow worked at Lokomotive until October 2017, when he was dismissed due to unsuccessfulness.

From April (or June) 2018, Kudaschow was the assistant coach of Ilya Vorobyov for the Russian national team and at the same time for SKA Saint Petersburg . After the semi-final defeat and winning the bronze medal at the 2019 World Cup , Vorobyov was dismissed as both national coach and SKA head coach and Alexei Kudashov was replaced. In June 2020, the same thing happened to Kudashov when he was replaced in both positions by his previous assistant Valeri Nikolaevich Bragin .
