The Roman Catholic Kuratienkirche Rehmen is located in the village of Rehmen in the Bregenzerwald municipality of Au in the Bregenz district in Vorarlberg . It is consecrated to St. Joseph and belongs to the Au parish in the Hinterwald dean's office in the Feldkirch diocese . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The church was built in 1664 and enlarged at the beginning of the 18th century and consecrated in 1717. The nave was expanded again in 1934. The brick porch dates from 1837.

architecture

Church exterior

The church consists of a nave with a retracted choir , which are located under a gable roof . An octagonal bell tower with an onion dome is built over the gable roof . To the south of the choir is the sacristy with a pent roof . It was built in 1923. There are arched windows in the nave and choir. On the south side of the nave is a chapel-like extension.

Church interior

The nave is flat barrel vaulted with four short stab caps . Underneath is a circumferential tooth cut cornice. The triumphal arch is drawn in and round. The retracted choir, ending at the five- eighth end, is barrel vaulted. Underneath is a surrounding cornice. In the west of the nave there is a gallery that has a straight parapet and rests on two supports. The frescoes in the nave are by Anton Marte from 1923. They represent the "handing over of the keys to Petrus " after Glätzle . The " Dove of the Holy Spirit " is depicted in stucco in the choir vault . The painted glass windows come from Gottlieb Schuller and were made by the Tyrolean glass painting and mosaic institute . The Emmaus disciples are depicted in the choir on the left . In the nave, the saints Franziska , Margaretha and Barbara are depicted on the left . On the right side the saints Jakobus , Martin and Wendelin are depicted.

Furnishing

The high altar is a four-pillar structure with two twisted pillars adorned with vine leaves, cranked entablature and a top with four pillars from around 1700. The altarpiece shows the Holy Family . It was created by Wendelin Moosbrugger around 1800. The picture is flanked by figures from around 1740. The figure on the left represents St. Catherine , the right one represents St. Sebastian . In the upper picture, the Saints Anna , Joachim and Maria are shown. In the top there are figures of two female saints. The figure on the left represents St. Afra . Above the upper picture is a statue of St. Michael and two putti from the middle of the 18th century. The tabernacle was built around 1770. The niche relief depicts the city of Jerusalem and a crucifix .

The picture on the left side altar shows the " Annunciation of Mary " by Wendelin Moosbrugger from around 1800. In front of it is a figure "Mary with Child" from the end of the 19th century. The altarpiece on the right side altar shows the " Transfiguration of Christ ". It was painted around 1800 by Wendelin Moosbrugger. The figures of Saints Aloisius and Ignatius were created in the middle of the 18th century. The painting "Resurrection of Christ" was painted at the beginning of the 19th century. The depiction of the “ Sacred Heart of Jesus ” was made by E. Schöppl in 1930. The Stations of the Cross according to Führich date from the middle of the 19th century. The crucifix was created by Kaspar Albrecht in 1935. The bench docks are by Kaspar Felder .

The organ was made by the Mayer brothers in 1843.
