Kurt Roth (diplomat)

Kurt Roth (born November 10, 1931 , † June 14, 1989 ) was a German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador to the former Portuguese colonies of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde .

Life

Roth learned to be a shoe worker by 1949. From 1950 to 1960 he held full-time positions in the FDJ and the SED in the Suhl district , including an employee of the SED district leadership in Suhl. From 1960 to 1964 he studied at the Institute for International Relations of the German Academy for Political Science and Law . He completed his studies with a degree in political science.

From 1964 he was a member of the diplomatic service of the GDR. In 1966 he was an employee of the GDR commercial agency in Algiers , from 1968 to 1972 head of the GDR commercial agency in Tunis and then until 1975 sector head in the GDR Ministry of Foreign Affairs . From 1975 to 1978 he was ambassador in Bissau and from there he was second accredited in the Republic of Cape Verde. From 1979 he was secretary for Africa , the Near and Middle East of the GDR Solidarity Committee. Most recently he was president of the GDR-Guinea-Bissau friendship society and employee of the Institute for International Relations at the Academy for Political Science and Law of the GDR.

He died at the age of 57 and was buried in the Friedrichsfelde Central Cemetery .
