Kurukshetra is a district in the Indian state of Haryana .
The area is 1530 km². The administrative seat is the city of the same name Kurukshetra . The district belongs to the wider metropolitan area of Delhi .

The district was established on 1973 and emerged from parts of Karnal .

Children under 6 years of age are 12.1% of the population. The Haryanvi language, a dialect of Hindi, is common in the district .
Almost 29.0% of the population live in cities. The largest city is Thanesar with 155,152 inhabitants.
