La Crosse is a city in Alachua County in the US state of Florida with 360 inhabitants (as of 2010).

La Crosse is about 15 km north of Gainesville and about 95 km southwest of Jacksonville .
history
La Crosse was founded as a rural village in 1860, in an area that at that time lived mainly from growing cotton. The post office opened in 1881 and the city was recognized as a city on December 12, 1897. Today the most important products are potatoes, tobacco and vegetables.
Religions
There are currently two different churches in La Crosse: The "La Crosse Baptist Church" of the Baptist congregation and the Methodist Church (as of 2004).
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 360 inhabitants were distributed over 143 households. The population density was 102.9 inh / km². 77.8% of the population identified themselves as whites, 18.1% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 0.6% as Asian Americans . 3.3% said they belonged to several ethnic groups. 16.4% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 33.8% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 29.2% of all households. 72.3% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.77 people and the average family size was 3.14 people.
25.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 18.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 33.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 22.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 44 years. 50.6% of the population were male and 49.4% were female.
The median annual income was $ 56,458, with 10.7% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.
