La Frédière is a village and a former French commune with a population of 68 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ). It belonged to the arrondissement of Saint-Jean-d'Angély and the canton of Chaniers (until 2015: canton of Saint-Hilaire-de-Villefranche ). The inhabitants are called Frelois .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Saint-Hilaire-de-Villefranche and La Frédière were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Saint-Hilaire-de-Villefranche of the same name and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Saint-Hilaire-de-Villefranche.

La Frédière is about 58 kilometers south-east of La Rochelle on the Bramerit River . La Frédière is surrounded by the neighboring towns of Grandjean in the north and north-west, Saint-Hilaire-de-Villefranche in the east and south-east, Juicq in the south and south-east, Annepont in the south and west and Taillebourg in the west and north-west.
