Lajos Tar (born June 9, 1957 in Devecser / Hungary ) is a Hungarian painter , sculptor , composer , church musician and guitar virtuoso . He realizes his concept of “Art and Music” in projects in Hungary and Germany in public and church areas.

Lajos Tar lives in Nörvenich .

Live and act

Lajos Tar was born as the son of the agricultural engineer L. Tar and his wife Julia in Devecser north of Lake Balaton. After primary school he attended the boarding school of the Benedictine order in the "school town" of Pápa . He graduated from high school with a university entrance qualification and began his studies in Budapest . For the next few years, the center of life was the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. During this time he took courses at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts , which the sculptor Pál Pátzay and the painter Sándor Bortnyik shaped as directors after the Second World War .

Tar won competitions as a student at the Music Academy. The first concert tours in Western Europe followed. On study trips to cultural sites in Italy, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, he dealt with the fine arts and the architecture of the old masters . Further study trips took him to North and South America. In New York he familiarized himself with the casting techniques with all formats up to the monumental figure in the leading bronze art foundry "Bedi-Makky Art Foundry".

Visual arts

In painting, Tar has two main focuses: the classical portrait of the human being and sacred and mythological themes in the style of surrealism . This is how the cycle “European Youth” emerged as the central theme of his drawings. Surrealistic painting cycles are dedicated to the themes "Genesis - The Creation" and "Miro was here ...". In sculpture, he is influenced by surrealism and symbolism . Portrait busts are part of his sculptural work. For the community of Nörvenich he created a commemorative relief “Against forgetting”. In 2018 he designed an Orpheus column from the realm of mythology with the metal object “Altum Amoris - Tones of Love” for Nörvenich Castle .

At the age of 18 Tar won first national prizes in music competitions. This included receiving the Hungarian "Helikon Award" (1975) and second prize in the national guitar competition (1977, Budapest). As a qualified musician, he taught at the music school of the municipality of Nörvenich (North Rhine-Westphalia) in the early 1980s . He then founded the “Musica Humana” with regular concerts by young music students at Nörvenich Castle . As a guitarist he is a guest a. in Germany, Hungary, France, Austria and the USA.

A specialty of Tar as a composer is the sonnet for guitar. He dedicated this kind of homage to artists and writers such as Kurt Arentz , Salvador Dalí , Ernst Jünger , Ernst Fuchs and Birgit Sewekow for anniversaries . In 2016, on her 70th birthday, he dedicated the composition “Dance of Colors” to her. He dedicated the composition Homo ludens to the Russian painter Binyamin Shalumov ( Dagestan ) with its world premiere at Nörvenich Castle (2007) on the occasion of the exhibition “Art from Russia” under the patronage of Vladimir Putin . He honored the “painting nun” Maria Geroldine Dörpinghaus on her 80th birthday with the composition “Pro Patria”, which premiered on June 11, 2017 in the Museum of European Art (NRW).
