Lakewood Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Lucie County in the US state of Florida with 11,323 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Lakewood Park is about 10 km north of Fort Pierce and about 100 km north of West Palm Beach . The CDP is tangent to or crossed by US Highway 1 and Florida State Road 713 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 11,323 inhabitants were distributed over 6,137 households. The population density was 654.5 inhabitants / km². 84.9% of the population identified themselves as white, 9.9% as African-American , 0.3% as American Indian and 1.5% as Asian Americans . 1.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.9% to several ethnic groups. 6.5% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 39.8% of all households lived in 25.3% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 65.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.32 people and the average family size was 2.80 people.

20.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 20.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 28.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 30.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 47 years. 48.4% of the population were male and 51.6% were female.

The median annual income was $ 46,211, with 11.2% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 95.47% of the population, 2.70% spoke Spanish and 1.83% had another mother tongue.
