White City is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Lucie County in the US state of Florida with 3719 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

White City is located on the St. Lucie River and borders directly on the cities of Fort Pierce (north) and Port St. Lucie (south). The CDP is about 90 km north of West Palm Beach and is crossed by US Highway 1 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 3719 inhabitants were distributed among 1553 households. The population density was 203.2 inh. / Km². 90.9% of the population identified themselves as white, 3.4% as African-American , 0.3% as Native American and 1.3% as Asian Americans . 2.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.7% to several ethnic groups. 10.0% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 29.2% of all households lived in 30.7% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 72.9% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 2.98.

24.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 19.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 33.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 22.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 45 years. 50.9% of the population were male and 49.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 59,286, with 7.9% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 94.72% of the population and Spanish spoke 5.28%.

On February 23, 1990, the Captain Hammond House was inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places .
