The Lampián district is located in the province of Huaral in Region Lima in Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1857. It has an area of 148 km². The 2017 census counted 366 residents. In 1993 the population was 775, in 2007 it was 519. The administrative center is the 2450 m high village of Lampián with 228 inhabitants (as of 2017). Lampián is about 50 km east-northeast of the provincial capital Huaral .
Geographical location
The Lampián district is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the central north of the Huaral Province. It has a longitudinal extension in SSW-NNE direction of about 25 km and a maximum width of about 8.5 km. The Río Carac flows south along the eastern district border, the Río Chancay along the south to the west.
The Lampián district borders on the Ihuarí district in the west, the Veintisiete de Noviembre district in the northeast and the San Miguel de Acos , Atavillos Bajo and Sumbilca districts in the southeast .
Localities
Besides the main town, Canchapilca is the only larger town.
