Landry Fields (born June 27, 1988 in Long Beach , California ) is an American basketball player who last played for the Toronto Raptors in the NBA .

Career

Fields attended Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos , California. He was the captain of the basketball team for his first and final seasons in high school. Although he was advertised by Gonzaga University as well as by Lute Olson , the famous coach of the University of Arizona , Fields chose the Stanford Cardinal, where he worked with brothers Robin and Brook Lopez , both of whom are now also in the Play NBA , formed one of the best classes in the nation.

Fields, who is mainly used in the position of the shooting guard, came in his first season to 14 minutes per game. Over the years, however, he improved more and more, so that he came to 22 points per game in his final season and thus led the Pacific-10 Conference in both points and rebounds .

After his final season in college, he signed up for the draft in 2010, where he was selected in the second round in 39th place by the New York Knicks . Due to his convincing performance in the NBA Summer League , he even managed to fight for a place in the Knicks' starting five . In the game against the Denver Nuggets on November 16, 2010, he also achieved career highs in points (21) and rebounds (17).

For these achievements he was awarded the title of "Rookie of the Month" in the Eastern Conference in November and December 2010 . At the end of the 2010/11 season, Fields was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team . Since the Knicks had strengthened at the beginning of the 2011/12 season with Tyson Chandler and he wanted to continue to wear the shirt number 6, Fields wears the number 2 from now on.

After his contract expired in the summer of 2012, the New York Knicks waived to give him a new contract and Fields moved to the Toronto Raptors . The Knicks had previously committed the guards Jason Kidd and Raymond Felton and thus closed the gap from Fields. Fields received a contract for 3 years and 20 million in Toronto dollar . Due to many injuries, Fields was only used sporadically in Toronto. After his contract expired in the summer of 2015, he was fired from Toronto.
