State election in Salzburg 1994
The state elections in Salzburg 1994 were held on March 13, 1994 and were the eleventh state elections in the state of Salzburg in the Second Republic. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) again lost two mandates after the losses in 1989 and was only able to achieve 38.6 percent and 14 mandates with a loss of 5.4 percentage points. This was the ÖVP's worst result in the Second Republic. But the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) also continued its downward trend, also achieving the worst result since 1945 with 27.1 percent and 11 seats, and losing another seat with a drop of 4.2 percentage points. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) profited from the downward trend of the major parties, which achieved its best result in Salzburg with 19.5 percent and eight mandates. The FPÖ gained 3.1 percentage points and two mandates. The citizen list (BL) was also able to increase by 1.1 percentage points and win a mandate. With 7.3 percent, the citizens' list had three mandataries in the newly elected state parliament. On the other hand, the Liberal Forum narrowly failed to move into the state parliament with 5.8 percent. The Austrian Motorists and Citizens' Interest Party (ÖABP) also failed to enter the state parliament with 1.8 percent.
The state parliament of the 11th legislative period was constituted on May 2, 1994 and on the same day elected the state government Katschthaler III as the new Salzburg state government.
