State election in Salzburg 1922
The state elections in Salzburg in 1922 were held on April 9, 1922 and were the second state elections in the state of Salzburg after the First World War . After numerous parties that had stood for election in the 1919 state elections no longer ran in 1922, the Christian National Electoral Community (CNW) achieved an absolute majority of votes and seats. This was an alliance of the Christian Social Party (CSP), the German National Socialist Workers 'Party (DNSAP) and the Freedom Salzburg Farmers' Union. After the number of state parliament mandates had been reduced from 40 to 28, the Christian National Electoral Community provided 16 of the 28 mandataries with 56.27%. The Social Democratic Workers' Party of German Austria (SDAPDÖ) was able to increase its share of the vote by 5.0 percent to 34.5%, but lost two of its previous 12 seats due to the reduction in mandates. The newly founded Greater German People's Party (GDVP), which partly succeeded the Freedom Citizens, Peasants and Workers' Party, a collective movement for various German national groups, achieved 9.2% and entered the state parliament with two seats.
The state parliament for the second electoral period was constituted on May 4, 1922 and on that day elected the state government Rehrl I as the new Salzburg state government. The Christian National Electoral Community did not subsequently form a club of its own. Rather, the club of the Christian Social Party existed with 14 seats, while the representative of the DNSAP and the representative of the Freedom Salzburg Farmers' Union remained non-attached and worked informally with the Greater German People's Party.
