State election in Salzburg in 1964
The state elections in Salzburg in 1964 were held on April 26, 1964 and were the fifth state elections in the state of Salzburg in the 2nd republic. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) was able to win one mandate with a plus of 1.6 percent and, with a share of the vote of 44.9 percent, had 15 seats in the newly elected state parliament. The Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ) was also able to increase its result in the state elections in 1959 and gained 2.3 percent, which means that the SPÖ was able to maintain its mandate of 13 seats. The loser in the election was the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), which lost 4.3 percent and lost one of its five seats. The Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ), however, failed with 1.2 percent as well as the first-time candidate European Federalist Party (EFP), which also achieved 1.2 percent.
The state parliament of the 5th legislative period was constituted on June 19, 1964 and elected the state government Lechner II as the new Salzburg state government.
