history

Historically, Lappach belongs to the county of Haag and later to the district of Wasserburg am Inn . It was incorporated into St. Wolfgang on April 1, 1971 and, like this municipality, has been part of the Erding district since July 1, 1972. Lappach, with the Tann district, is the largest part of St. Wolfgang's municipality in terms of area.

Until 1971, Lappach had a total of 32 settlements spread over an area of 991.45 hectares: in addition to the parish village of Lappach, the hamlets of Herrnberg (former aristocratic residence), Holz, Schönfleck, Semmelhub, Sollach and Unterthalham as well as the desert areas of Angerl, Baumgarten, Bergham , Bichl, Endgassen, Erlach, Freundl, Haberstätt, Hackl, Hankl, Hochreit, Hodersberg, Holz am Berg, Kaltenbrunn, Kirchstätt, Lehen, Loh, Misthilgen, Oberthalham, Pumpernudel, Rabeneck, Reschenberg, Seebäck, Weinhub and Weinthal.

As of December 31, 2011, Lappach had 399 inhabitants. In 1961 Lappach had 347 inhabitants. See also the development of the population of St. Wolfgang .

Architectural monuments have been identified for Bergham, Bichl, Herrnberg, Holz, Kirchstätt, Lappach, Semmelhub and Sollach. See the list of architectural monuments in Sankt Wolfgang (Upper Bavaria) .

The district of Dorfen of the same name , which is only a few kilometers away, is generally referred to as Lappach bei Dorfen .

Filial church of St. Remigius

St. Remigius Church

The St. Remigius in Lappach was possibly originally a Romanesque building. It was probably destroyed in the ox war of 1421-1424. Between 1430 and 1490 a Gothic brick building with a remarkable net vault was erected at this point. The pointed helmet tower looks like a small, slender brother of the St. Wolfgang church tower. The interior of the church is decorated with Gothic frescoes that were exposed during the last church renovation.

Next to the church is the community cemetery. In the municipality of St. Wolfgang, groundwater and soil conditions do not allow a cemetery. Other church-sponsored cemeteries are in Schönbrunn , Großschwindau and Pyramoos .

Lord God in the Feichten

Marterl Herrgott in the Feichten

Another special feature is the Marterl Herrgott in der Feichten , which is located in the state forest south of Lappach. According to tradition, a woman dependent on crutches looked for protection under a large spruce tree there around 100 years ago in a thunderstorm night. Her prayers are said to have been answered so that the next morning the woman could hang her crutches on the “fig tree” and return home healthy. As thanks for the miraculous healing, the woman had a large hole drilled in the spruce and a carved body of Christ (without a cross) attached, which was later replaced by a Mother of God. After the spruce was felled, a large cross and a prayer bench were set up there. In 1990 the cross remained upright in the Wiebke hurricane in the midst of fallen trees.
