Kastuluskirchlein in Oberschiltern

Schiltern is a district of the city of Dorfen in the Upper Bavarian district of Erding .

geography

Schiltern is a former municipality in the Wasserburg district . It consists of the hamlets of Oberschiltern, each just a few meters apart (with the little church of St. Kastulus , 17th century), Mitterschiltern and Unterschiltern. In 1964 Schiltern had a total of 306 inhabitants on 770.86 hectares. The area stretched from the middle Goldachlauf to the center of the Gattergebirge . Oberschiltern has around 26 inh., Mitterschiltern around 34 in. And Unterschiltern around 22 in. Of the 26 districts, other (larger) hamlets were Oswaldberg, Zettl and Parschenberg. Otherwise the community consisted almost entirely of wastelands .

The most important building of the former community is the church of St. Koloman in the desert of the same name (about one kilometer south of Mitterschiltern).

history

Schiltern was the northernmost part of the imperial county of Haag and came with it to the Duchy of Bavaria in 1566 . The parish seat of 1818 by the Bavarian Gemeindeedikt established rural community was in Oberschiltern and grundversorgende Kramerladen in Mitterschiltern. When nothing came of the planned large community Schwindkirchen-Wasentegernbach-Grüntegernbach-Schiltern in 1971, Schiltern mostly joined the town of Dorfen in the Erding district on January 1, 1972, while the Mayerhof fell to St. Wolfgang and in the district that was dissolved on July 1, 1972 Wasserburg remained.

economy

In Hinterberg above Oberschiltern and in Forach (besides Baier in Jeßling ) there are the only overnight stays in the Gattergebirge. From Hinterberg and the Andrebauernkapelle you have a wide view to the north, where you can see the hill country behind the Isental and the lower Goldachtal.

Churches

  • St. Kastulus Oberschiltern , the building erected around 1625 in the late Gothic style is, in terms of size, almost a chapel. In the three-bay interior with ⅜-end it has a weak cross vault with rod-shaped ribs. In the west, the church has a pointed helmet ridge turret.
  • St. Coloman (also Colomann ). The late Gothic church was built in the 16th century as a forest chapel and dedicated to St. Koloman consecrated as the altarpiece from 1720 shows, which may indicate an early traffic route. The building has a gable roof tower on the west side. The church was redesigned in baroque style around 1678. The Sebastianialtar goes back to the time of the plague, in which a plague cemetery is suspected around Koloman. The late Gothic figure of Mary is also remarkable.

  • Andrebauernkapelle Oberlohe , this church was built in 1991/92 after a votive vow externally in the Gothic style. It represents a stately chapel with an open vestibule, whose choir is designed as a Marian grotto . Every year for the birth of the Virgin Mary there is a procession of lights from Schiltern to this chapel.
