With around 1,000 inhabitants, Oberdorfen is the largest district of the city of Dorfen in the Upper Bavarian district of Erding, around 45 kilometers east of the state capital Munich . Up until the Bavarian regional reform in 1978, Oberdorfen was the district and administrative seat of the municipality of Zeilhofen .

Oberdorf is one kilometer west of Dorfen, with which it has now almost grown together.

history

The first documented mention of Oberdorf is, as with Dorfen, around 773, since no distinction was made between Dorfen and Oberdorf. Oberdorfen had its historical significance as the parish seat of an area that included today's parishes of Dorfen and Oberdorfen, in which Maria Dorfen, as a rich pilgrimage church, was just one of many branches. It was not until 1813 that Dorfen became an independent parish . The primary school of the municipality of Zeilhofen was also located in Oberdorfen. The Isengau shooting range is now located in the building. In the 1970s, the large Huber settlement where Werner Lorant lived was laid out .
