Lars Bender (born January 8, 1988 in Koblenz ) is a German soccer player . He has been under contract with SC Fortuna Köln again since summer 2019 .

Career

Born in Koblenz , Bender first played in the neighboring communities at FC Urbar and SV Niederwerth before joining TuS Koblenz in 2001 . There he played his way through the youth teams and was in the second division squad of the Rhinelander from 2008 . He was able to assert himself well in his first year and was in the starting line-up in seven games until a broken ankle put him out of action for some time. In the second year he only came on four substitutes. Only after relegation to the 3rd division in 2010 did he become a regular player. When the club was relegated again, this time because he had waived the license for the lowest professional league, he left Koblenz. On June 16, 2011 he signed a contract with third division Kickers Offenbach until June 30, 2012. On July 16, 2013, his move to SV Eintracht Trier was announced. After Fortuna Köln rose to the 3rd division , Bender followed his former coach Uwe Koschinat to the cathedral city , where he played until June 30, 2018.

After almost three weeks of trial training, Lars Bender signed with Energie Cottbus on September 21, 2018 . He only reached an unfortunate 17th place in the table with the Niederlausitzers at the end of the season , which resulted in the club being relegated to the Northeast Regional Football League .

For the 2019/20 season, Bender switched back to SC Fortuna Köln , which, like Energie Cottbus, had just been relegated from the 3rd division.
