Laske , Upper Sorbian , is a place in the center of the Bautzen district in East Saxony and has been part of the Ralbitz-Rosenthal community since 1994 . The place is located in Upper Lusatia and is part of the core settlement area of the Sorbs . The majority of the inhabitants speak Sorbian as their mother tongue.
geography
The place is about ten kilometers east of Kamenz and 20 kilometers northwest of Bautzen in the floodplain of the monastery water on the left side of the river and is part of Delany , the "Netherlands" of the former Marienstern monastery care. The Lasker Auenwald , located in the immediate vicinity of the village, represents the last largely natural section of the floodplain landscape and is therefore under nature protection.
In terms of settlement history, Laske is a round hamlet . The neighboring towns are Schönau in the north, Ralbitz behind the alluvial forest in the east, Rosenthal in the south and Schmerlitz in the west.
history
Laske is first mentioned in a document in 1417, even then under its current name. Other recorded German forms of name were Lasska (1538) and Loßke (1721). A manor based in Laske has been recorded since 1568 , which also exercises the manorial rule in the town parish after Crostwitz , but hands it over to the St. Marienstern monastery in 1616 and henceforth serves it as an outbuilding . In 1716 Laske came to the Ralbitzer parish.
On January 1, 1957, Laske was initially incorporated into Schmerlitz . As part of the community of Schmerlitz, Laske was first incorporated into Rosenthal on January 1, 1974, and finally to Ralbitz-Rosenthal on January 1, 1994 .
The Dresden painter Fritz Tröger (1894–1978) had his “second home” and a country studio here since 1936.
Population and language
For his statistics on the Sorbian population in Upper Lusatia, Arnošt Muka determined a population of 74 in the 1880s; including without exception Sorbs . In 1956 Ernst Tschernik counted a Sorbian-speaking population of 89.3% in the municipality of Laske. To this day, Sorbian is the predominant everyday language in the town.
The population remained largely stable over the course of the 19th and 20th centuries, fluctuating between 60 and 80. In 1994 it reached a peak with 94 inhabitants, but has since declined slightly in the course of the general demographic development.
The majority of the devout residents are Roman Catholics to Ralbitz , the small Protestant portion belong to the Schmeckwitz parish .
