Laura Cheie

Laura Cheie (born March 5, 1969 in Șieu , Bistrița-Năsăud district , Romania ) is a Romanian Germanist at the chair of the University of the West Timișoara , Romania and was cultural attaché at the Romanian embassy in Vienna , Austria .

Life

Laura Cheie received her German school education at the Nikolaus Lenau Lyzeum in Timișoara (German Timișoara ) , after which she studied Romanian and German language and literature at the University of the West Timișoara between 1987 and 1992 . Since October 1992 she has been employed at the chair for German studies at this university, first as an assistant assistant, then from 1996 as an assistant, and since 2002 as a lecturer for modern German literature .

For studies and research abroad, Cheie worked from October 1993 to July 1994 at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen , with a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in the Department of Modern German Literature. Laura Cheie has been a member of the Societății Germaniștilor din România (Society of Germanists in Romania) since 1995 and a member of the Austrian Society for German Studies since 1997 . Cheie received her doctorate on October 24, 2000 for work at the University of Innsbruck (The Poetics of Obsessives with Georg Trakl and George Bacovia ) with Walter Methlagl as a doctoral supervisor.

Laura Cheie was a guest lecturer at the University of Vienna from December 2002 to June 2006 . She has also published academic papers on the works of Robert Musil , Franz Kafka , Eugen Barbu , Marie Luise Kaschnitz , and Alfred Kubin . She had public appearances with readings. a. in the Literaturhaus am Inn , at the Salzburg Book Week , at the Humboldt-Kolleg in Szeged , Hungary from September 27th to 29th, 2007, about interculturality and interdisciplinarity during the 8th Kronstadt German Studies Conference 2005, and about linguistics and literary studies in Central and Eastern Europe - Trends in Romanian contemporary literature on December 7, 2004 in the Documentation Center for Eastern and Central European Literature (DomL) in Vienna.

On October 10, 2007, Laura Cheie was appointed First Embassy Secretary and Cultural Attaché of the Romanian Embassy in Vienna. As part of austerity measures in response to the global economic crisis , the Romanian Foreign Ministry cut some positions, including that of the cultural attaché at the Romanian embassy in Vienna. Laura Cheie's mandate ended on August 15, 2009, after which she returned to her position at the University of the West in Timișoara.

  • The poetics of the obsessive in Georg Trakl and George Bacovia. Trakl Studies, vol. XXII, Otto Müller Verlag, Salzburg / Vienna 2004, p. 219.
The dissertation was published in 2004 in a series of Trakl studies published by Otto Müller Verlag in Austria and was the first volume of its series to be comparative. In the same year it was presented in the Trakl memorial in Salzburg.
