Leonie Benesch

Leonie Benesch (born April 22, 1991 in Hamburg ) is a German film actress .

Life

Benesch attended the Waldorf School in Tübingen .

In 2009 she played one of the leading roles in the film The White Ribbon - A German Children's Story, which was awarded the Golden Palm in Cannes . In this context, the critics called Benesch "a discovery".

For the European co-production, which reports on puzzling incidents in a north German village on the eve of the First World War , Benesch received the US Young Artist Award and the New Faces Award for best young actress together with Leonard Proxauf . In 2010 she was the friend of Constantin von Jascheroff in Philip Koch's drama Picco . In the same year she had a role in Sophie Heldman's feature film Satte Farben vor Schwarz, alongside Senta Berger and Bruno Ganz .

In 2017 Benesch was seen in the first two seasons of the ARD Degeto - Sky - Coproduction Babylon Berlin as Greta Overbeck, for which she received the German Acting Award. Also in 2017, Benesch played the sister Prince Philips , Princess Cecilia of Greece in two episodes of the British Netflix series The Crown .
