Lethal Weapon is an American television series that premiered on September 21, 2016 on Fox and is based on the film of the same name by Shane Black . Due to good audience ratings , the original series order was expanded from 13 to 18 episodes on October 12, 2016.
The German-language first broadcast was initially planned from January 2017 on the ProSieben station, but was then postponed indefinitely. It was later announced that a broadcast in Germany would now take place on the sister broadcaster Sat.1 from February 6, 2017. The series had previously been shown on 3+ in Switzerland since January 3, 2017 and on ORF eins in Austria since January 9, 2017 .
In February 2017, it was announced that Fox had extended the series for a second season. It was broadcast in the USA from September 26, 2017 . The second season was shown on German free TV from February 5, 2018 by Sat.1 .
In May 2018, the series was extended by a third season, in which Clayne Crawford is no longer part. As his successor, Seann William Scott was engaged in a new role.
In May 2019, the series was canceled after 3 seasons by FOX.

The series is about the former US Navy SEALs soldier Martin Riggs, who suffers from a kind of burnout syndrome due to the fact that he recently lost his family . In order to start a new life, he moves from Texas to Los Angeles and starts working as a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department . He gets a new partner named Roger Murtaugh, who is more than skeptical about his partner. Both have problems trusting the other, as both are very different personalities and approach certain situations differently. As both find themselves repeatedly in situations in their investigations in which their lives are in danger and depend on the help of the other, a kind of friendship and trust gradually develops.
After Martin Riggs was shot at the end of the second season, Murtaugh gets Wesley Cole as a new partner at the beginning of the third season.
