Letitia Stevenson

Letitia Green Stevenson (born January 8, 1843 in Allegheny County , Pennsylvania , † December 25, 1913 in Bloomington , McLean County , Illinois ) was the wife of Adlai E. Stevenson , the American Vice President under Grover Cleveland and thus the second lady of United States.

She was the daughter of Lewis Warner Green, a Reverend, and Mary Peachy Fry Green. Letitia Green married Adlai E. Stevenson on December 20, 1866. The couple had 3 children together: 2 daughters and a son. She was one of the founders of the Daughters of the American Revolution , their president and published a book on the history of this association. Since she suffered from rheumatism, she was repeatedly forced to wear bandages on her feet. Nevertheless, she was described as a "keen observer and judge of people, and a charming hostess".

She was buried in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington.
