Jennie Tuttle Hobart

Jennie Tuttle Hobart (born April 30, 1848 in Paterson , New Jersey , † January 8, 1941 ) was the wife of Garret Augustus Hobart , the former Vice President of the United States .

Life

She was born the daughter of lawyer Socrates Tuttle and grew up in the town where she was born. In 1869 she married the aspiring lawyer and politician Garret A. Hobart. The couple had two children. During her husband's vice presidency, she often had to perform the duties of first lady because her health was very poor. After her husband passed away while he was in office, she returned to Paterson, where she became involved in the community.

She is buried at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson.
