Luteticz was first mentioned in a document in 1323. The existence of the manor that forms the center of the village has been documented since the middle of the 16th century. Originally, Leutewitz consisted of two rows of houses, which connected to the north and south of the estate as well as the Buschmühle and the Obermühle on the Käbschützer Bach. The village was later expanded to the west of the manor.

In 1767 the Steiger family acquired the manor, which at that time covered an area of 85 hectares. The family later expanded their property to 118 hectares. In 1805, Adolph Steiger founded the Leutewitz Merino thoroughbred sheep . In addition, the Steiger were well-known breeders of agricultural crops. Christian Adolph Leberecht Steiger grew the Leutewitz beet from the Oberndorfer beet in Leutewitz in 1825 . This nutrient-rich, spherical beet variety was particularly suitable for growing on drier locations and served as fodder beet for sheep breeding. In 1876, Karl Otto Steiger started breeding fine-furry varieties of the Saxon mountain oaf. In 1880 Karl Otto Steiger began his attempts to breed winter-hardy varieties of English squarehead wheat. In 1909, the Wilsdruff – Gärtitz narrow-gauge railway, designed as a beet railway, began operating. On November 1, 1935, Leutewitz became part of the newly formed community of Planitz-Deila .

In 1946 the Steiger family was expropriated as part of the land reform . The Volksgut Leutewitz was founded in 1950 and initially farmed 150 hectares. In 1952, the nationally owned Gut Leutewitz received the status of a main seed breeding property, the task of which was primarily conservation breeding and cultivated an area of 500 hectares.

In 1965, new grass varieties were cultivated and, from 1970, new winter barley varieties were developed. In 1966 passenger traffic on the narrow-gauge railway was discontinued; In 1972 the transport of goods was finally stopped and the tracks were dismantled in the following years. In 1973 the Volksgut Leutewitz became part of the newly founded KAP Saatbau Krögis and the cultivated area was reduced to 150 hectares again. Since 1978, plant breeding in Leutewitz has concentrated on these plant species and the estate belonging to VVB Saatgut became the main breeding station for winter barley and grasses in the GDR. During this time, the property was expanded and new greenhouses were built. In addition, the estate continued to operate herdbook breeding of merino meat sheep as well as sow breeding and dairy farming. In 1988 the construction of a biotechnology plant began. After the political change, the cooperation with the IG plant breeding began in Munich and since 1990 the breeding of winter wheat began in Leutewitz. In 1991 the Leutewitz breeding station was taken over by the Deutsche Saatveredlung Lippstadt. With the formation of the new large municipality Käbschützal on January 1, 1994, Leutewitz became part of this.

The building of the stop of the narrow-gauge railway is still preserved and is used by the fishing club as the club's headquarters. In addition, it was included in the cultural monument list for Käbschützal by the State Monuments Office together with a farm workers' house and the manor .
