Lev Gorn ( Lew Gorens ; Russian Лев Горенс ; * 1971 in Stavropol ) is a Russian - American actor , photographer and artist .

Life

Lev Gorens was born in 1971 in Stavropol in southern Russia to a Jewish family. His grandfather, who was an artist and sculptor, introduced him to art at an early age. In 1981 his family emigrated to the United States and settled in Brooklyn , where Gorens attended a yeshiva for a year and then an art school in Manhattan . He first appeared in a play during an exchange program in Wales .

Later Gorn was mainly active as a photographer . In addition to portrait photography , he also works with artistic montages and collages.

He has appeared in film and television productions since 2000. In 2003 he took on the role of drug dealer Eton Ben-Eleazer in six episodes of the television series The Wire . He became internationally known for the role of the diplomat Arkady Ivanovich Zotov in the television series The Americans , which he embodied in 51 episodes from 2013 to 2018.

In 2008 he directed two short films, for which he also wrote the script.

Gorn lives in New York City .
