Lev Fedorowitsch Girard de Soucanton
Lev Fedorowitsch Girard de Soucanton ( Russian : Лев Фёдорович Жирар-де-Сукантон; born June 19, 1855 in Saint Petersburg , † January 1918 in Tambow ) was a German-Baltic nobleman and major general of the Imperial Russian Army .
Life
He passed his matriculation examination at the private Karl May grammar school , after which he studied from 1870 to 1875. His military career began on September 1, 1875 in the rank of cadet at the Nicholas Cavalry School. In 1877 he joined his active military service in the Guards - regiment to horses, from December 1880 to May 1881 he was a member of the regimental court and was on April 12, 1881 to lieutenant promoted. After passing his entrance exam in 1881, he was admitted to the General Staff Course at the General Staff Academy and left it in October 1882. In February 1883 he was transferred to the telegraph force and trained as a telecommunications officer. He then returned to his regiment and was promoted to staff captain in 1887 . Several uses followed at shorter intervals:
- March-August 1888 cavalry - officer in the Guards Cavalry Reserve
- January 1892 to March 1893 commanding a squadron
- August to November 1892 regimental training director
- November 1892 to August 1893 Rittmeister in the Imperial Squadron
- From September 1896 regimental assistant and December 1896 promotion to colonel
- From March 1903 commander of the 4th Leib Dragoon Regiment
- In 1905, by the highest decree , he was promoted to major general and took over command and control of the Leibgarde Kürasier Regiment .
- In May 1906 he was in the entourage of his Majesty the Tsar added
- On May 24, 1907, he was appointed commander of the 1st Brigade of the 2nd Cavalry Division of the Guard, he remained in the wake of His Majesty the Tsar
- He was used during the First World War.
Over death LF Girard de Soucanton there are different views, the official is that he one in January 1916 injury suffered. He was then treated in the hospital and continued his recovery at home in Gatchina . From there he moved to Tambow and is said to have contracted typhus there . He died in January 1918, his grave is unknown.

Origin and family
His father was the Russian Colonel Theodolph Ivanovich Girard de Soucanton (* 1812 in Reval, † 1878 in Saint Petersburg ), who served in the Semyonovskoye bodyguard regiment. He was married to Julie Emilie Oesterreich (1819-1894). LF Girard de Soucanton married Olga Alexandrowna Scalon (* around 1866, † around 1940 in London ), their descendants were Leo Roman Baron Girard de Soucanton (* 1886, † 1934 in Harbin ), Olga Baroness Girard de Soucanton († 1961 in London) and Julie Girard de Soucanton (* 1896, † 1966 in London) ∞ Leonid Alexandrowitsch Ereminsky (* 1890 in Belarus , † 1944 in Surrey ).
