The list of educational institutions in Heidelberg includes educational institutions for places that belong to the urban district of Heidelberg in Baden-Württemberg . If one disregards the elementary schools of the numerous schools and secondary educational institutions in the city district , the city has 51,000 training and further education places, of which around 33,000 are in universities and technical colleges.

Colleges

The Heidelberg University Library , the landmark of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . The RKU was founded in 1386, making it the first university to begin teaching in Germany and the oldest continuously existing university in the Federal Republic of Germany.
