List of flags of Egyptian governorates

Flag of Egypt

The Arab Republic of Egypt is divided into 27 governorates ( Arabic محافظات, DMG muḥāfaẓāt ), each headed by a governor with ministerial rank.

Most of these governorates fly a flag that refers to regional characteristics.

Almost all flags have an emblem on a plain background. The most common color is green, followed by blue in various shades and by white. Not a single flag is - like the national flag of Egypt - designed as a tricolor .

	al-Iskandariyya الإسكندرية Alexandria		2: 3	The flag shows a stylized representation of the ancient lighthouse of Alexandria .
	al-Ismaʿiliyya الإسماعيلية Ismailia		2: 3	In the center of the flag there is an emblem with Saladin's eagle above, in a circle, a passenger ship and underneath underneath wavy lines as an indication of the location on the Suez Canal .
	al-Jiza الجيزة Giza		2: 3	The flag shows the three pyramids of Giza framed by papyrus .
	al-Minūfiyya المنوفية		2: 3	The emblem in this flag shows three white doves soaring over a chimney that is in the midst of flames. The emblem is limited to the front by a horizontal gear.
	al-Minya المنيا		2: 3	The flag shows the bust of Nefertiti .
	al-Qahira القاهرة Cairo		2: 3	The flag shows a mosque and underneath the name of the city in Kufi script .
	al-Qalyubiyya القليوبية		2: 3	Within half a cog above and a half corn wreath below is a mosque.
	al-Uqsur الأقصر Luxor		3: 4	The flag shows the ancient Egyptian ruins of Luxor .

	asch-Scharqiyya الشرقية " the eastern government "		2: 3	The flag shows a jumping yellow horse on a green background.

	Aswān أسوان Aswan		2: 3	The flag shows evidence of the generation of electricity by the Aswan Dam .
	Asyūt أسيوط		2: 3	The flag shows a green colored eagle Saladin on a white background.

	Bur Saʿid بور سعيد Port Said		2: 3	The flag shows Saladin's eagle from the national coat of arms above an anchor, which can be seen as an indication of the location on the Suez Canal.
	Dumyat دمياط Damietta		2: 3	The flag shows a sailing ship.
	Janub Sina جنوب سيناء South Sinai		2: 3	The flag shows an outline map of the Sinai Peninsula in the coat of arms.
