Qina ( Arabic محافظة قنا Muhāfazat Qinā , DMG Muḥāfaẓat Qinā , Egyptian-Arabic Muḥāfẓet Qenā ) is a governorate in Egypt with 3,001,494 inhabitants and is located in Upper Egypt .
It is bordered by the Sauhaj governorate to the north, the al-Bahr al-ahmar governorate to the east, the Aswan governorate to the south and the al-Wadi al-Jadid governorate and the al-Uqsur governorate to the west . The eastern part of the governorate extends into the Arabian desert . The administrative center is Qina (Qena).
