Memorial stone in Benešov

The list of memorial stones for Nazi victims in Benešov contains memorial stones that were laid in the Central Bohemian town of Benešov (German: Beneschau ) in the Czech Republic . The seven memorial stones remind of the fate of people who were deported and murdered by the National Socialists . The memorial stones are modeled on the stumbling blocks laid by Gunter Demnig in many places .

The relocation in Benešov took place on May 7, 2015.

Arnošt Holzer was born on September 26, 1885 as the son of Alois Holzer and his wife Marie. Porgesová was born in Benešov. He married Olga geb. Orlíková. In 1942 the Nazi regime deported the couple first to the Theresienstadt ghetto and then to Lublin , where they were murdered.

His brother Leo Holzer, his sister Olga and their husband Rudolf Winternitz were murdered in Auschwitz in 1944 . His son Oswald Holzer was able to emigrate to the United States and married there. His daughter Joanie Holzer Schirm edited the life story of her father in a book entitled Adventurers Against Their Will .

Olga Holzerová was born on April 8, 1888 as the daughter of Jakob Orlik and Terezie. Vodičkova was born. She married Arnošt Holzer. The couple had a son, Oswald Alois Holzer. The last known place of residence of the couple before the deportation is Prague XII, Slezská 127. On April 24, 1942, the couple were first deported to the Theresienstadt ghetto by the Nazi regime on Transport Am . Her transport number was 531. On May 25, 1942, Olga Holzerová and her husband were deported to Lublin with Transport Az . Her transport number was 907. Both were murdered there. Her son Oswald Holzer was able to emigrate to the United States and got married there. His daughter Joanie Holzer Schirm edited the life story of her father in a book entitled Adventurers Against Their Will .

Josef Porges was born on September 15, 1883 in Zdislavice as the son of Ignatz and Josefa Porges. Feuerstein (died 1933) was born. He had four siblings: Rosalie (Ruzena), Otto (Ota), Rudolf and Bohumil Porges. Josef Porges was married to Marie, née Lustig. The couple had four children: Karel (born 1914), Rudolf (born 1915), Hana (born 1918) and Ruzena (born 1922). The family lived in Benešov and Prague. Porges worked as a businessman and businessman. Together with Alfred Taussig, his brother-in-law, Porges ran a textile business called ATAS (stands for Alfred Taussig and Partners). Around 1937, the Porges couple divorced. On September 1, 1939, Josef Porges was arrested by the National Socialists in his apartment in Benešov. He was deported to the Buchenwald concentration camp (his prisoner number was 35319). He was a prisoner in Block 10 until March 13, 1942. On this day Josef Porges was deported to Ravensbrück, where he was murdered on May 12, 1942. Josef Porges' ashes and clothes were sent to his brother Rudolf in Roudnice nad Labem . He buried the same in the grave of his mother in the Jewish cemetery in Trhový Štěpánov .

Josef's son Karel studied medicine, was able to flee to Palestine in 1939, joined the Czechoslovak Army in Exile in England, where he finished his studies, stayed and became the father of two children.
Son Rudolf also fled to Palestine in 1939, then was with the Royal Air Force and then, like his brother, joined the Czechoslovak Army in Exile. He returned to Czechoslovakia for a year after the war and then went back to England. He became the father of two children.
Hana married Abraham Reich in 1939 and fled to Palestine shortly after the marriage with her husband. There they became parents of two children.
Likewise, daughter Ruzena was able to flee to Palestine in 1939, where she married Reuven Hirshberg in 1942 and finally renamed herself Rachel Har-Zvi. They became parents to five children.
Josef's brother Bohumil studied in Prague and died there in 1918. Brother Otto was murdered in 1943 together with his two children and his wife in Auschwitz. Brother Rudolf was deported to Theresienstadt concentration camp in 1945 and liberated there.

Fürth / Fürthová family

Regina Fürthová b. Porges (born March 25, 1868) was murdered on September 18, 1942 in the Theresienstadt ghetto. She had 2 sons, Josef and Arnošt Fürth. The couple Josef Fürth (born on January 17, 1900) and Marie Fürthová b. Kosiger (born February 10, 1903) had two daughters, Irena and Jiřina Fürthová. In 1942 the family was deported to the Theresienstadt ghetto. From there she was sent to the Maly Trostinez extermination camp and was murdered on September 12, 1942. The couple Arnošt Fürth (b.1903) and Anna Fürthová b. Kosinerová (1904–1942) had a son, František Fürth. Arnošt Fürth was murdered on August 17, 1942 in Dachau concentration camp . Anna was first deported to Theresienstadt in 1942 - presumably together with her son and mother-in-law - and murdered in the Treblinka extermination camp on October 10 of the same year .
