Stumbling blocks for the Kaufmann family in Prague-Podolí

The list of stumbling blocks in Prague-Podolí contains the stumbling blocks that have been laid in the Podolí district of Prague . The traditional district has been part of Prague 4 since 2002 . Stumbling blocks remind of the fate of the people who were murdered, deported, expelled or driven to suicide by the National Socialists in the Czech Republic. As a rule, they are before the last self-chosen place of residence of the victim and were initiated by Gunter Demnig .

The Czech stumbling block project Stolpersteine.cz was launched in 2008 by the Česká unie židovské mládeže (Czech Union of Jewish Youth) and was under the patronage of the Prague Mayor. The stumbling blocks are to Czech stumbling blocks called alternatively kameny zmizelých (stones of the disappeared).

Some of the tables can be sorted; the basic sorting is done alphabetically according to the family name.

Bedřich Kaufmann (German: Friedrich) was born on November 25, 1911 in Prague. He was the eldest of the three sons of Hugo and Olga Kaufmann and worked as a businessman. On December 4, 1941, he was deported from Prague to the Theresienstadt ghetto on Transport J. His transport number was 194 out of 1,000. On December 18, 1943, he was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp on Transport Ds . His transport number was 474 out of 2,503. In 1944 he was transferred to the Schwarzheide concentration camp. During one of the death marches when it was dissolved, he was murdered on April 23, 1945 in the Khaatal near Schwarzheide.

Hanuš Kaufmann or Yohan Hanuš (German Hans) was born on April 20, 1917 in Prague. His parents were Hugo and Olga Kaufmann. He was the youngest of the three sons of Hugo and Olga Kaufmann. He was an employee and single. His last residence before deportation was in Prague II, Soukenická 14. On July 13, 1943, he was deported from Prague to the Theresienstadt ghetto on Transport Di. His transport number was 292 out of 839. On October 1, 1944, he was deported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. His number on that transport was 521 out of 1,501. He was murdered on January 19, 1945 in the Dachau concentration camp .

Hugo Kaufmann was born on June 3 and June 4, 1883 in Radkov u Telče / Okres Jihlava . His parents were Adolf and Regina Kaufmann. He was an entrepreneur and with Olga geb. Ehrmann married. The couple had three sons, Bedřich (born 1911), Robert (born 1913) and Hanuš (born 1917). He was deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp and murdered there on July 17, 1942. His wife and all three sons were also murdered during the Shoah . His sister Olga Bodo survived the Holocaust.

Robert Kaufmann was born on June 7, 1913. He was one of the three sons of Hugo and Olga Kaufmann. His marital status was married. His last place of residence before the deportation was in Prague XII, Lucemburská 16. On December 4, 1941, he was deported from Prague to the Theresienstadt ghetto by Transport J. His transport number was 745 out of 1,000. On October 19, 1943 he was deported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp on Transport Es. His number on that transport was 1163 out of 1,500. He was murdered by the Nazi regime.

Olga Kaufmannová b. Ehrmann was born on February 14, 1886 in Osek , Písek district. She was the daughter of Sigmund or Zigmund Ehrmann (1854–1935) and Julia geb. Kafka, also Julie or Julia (1854–1939). She had two brothers and three sisters: Martha (later Weiskopf, 1884–1942), Fanny (later Klein, 1888–1943), Rudolf (1891–1983), Jindra (1895–1975) and Ida (later Bergman, birth and Date of death unknown). She married Hugo Kaufmann. The couple had at least three sons, Bedřich (born 1911), Robert (born 1913) and Hanuš (born 1917). It is not known when she was arrested or when she arrived at Auschwitz concentration camp . But it was recorded in the death registers of Auschwitz. She was murdered by the Nazi regime in Auschwitz on October 7, 1942.

Her husband and all three sons were murdered during the Shoah . Her sister Martha, already a widow at the time, was deported to the Maly Trostinez extermination camp and killed there. Her sister Fanny was probably killed by the Nazi regime too. Your brothers survived. Jindra died in an unknown place in 1975, Rudolf in 1983 in Kiryat Bialik , Haifa.

Kamila Leknerová b. Grafová was born on April 5, 1868. She was deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp on June 20, 1942 with the Transport AAe . Her transport number was 349 out of 1,005. There she was murdered by the Nazi regime on May 13, 1943.

The Stolpersteine ​​in Prague were laid by Gunter Demnig personally on the following days: October 8, 2008, November 7, 2009, June 12, 2010, July 13 to 15, 2011 and July 17, 2013. Further laying took place on October 28, 2012 , are not mentioned on the website.
