List of memorial stones for Nazi victims in Liberec

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Memorial stones for the Benda / Bendová couple from Liberec , who were killed in the Litzmannstadt ghetto

The list of memorial stones for Nazi victims in Liberec contains imitations of Gunter Demnig's stumbling blocks that were laid in numerous municipalities and cities in the Czech Republic . This list includes all memorial stones in the Czech region of Liberecký kraj (German: Reichenberger Region ), which commemorate the fate of those people from this region who were murdered, deported, expelled or driven to suicide by the National Socialists .

The relocations in Liberec , formerly Reichenberg, took place on August 17, 2016. Nineteen memorial stones commemorate Jewish fellow citizens who “lost their lives as a result of atrocities committed by the Nazi regime”.

Some of the tables can be sorted; the basic sorting is done alphabetically according to the family name.

Maintaining the house was beyond the family's financial capacity, so large parts had to be rented out. “The paradox was,” says Věra Vohlídalová, the former director of the State Library in Liberec, “that it was her neighbors, Germans who had lived there for several years, who prepared for their deportation. During the war, the family of the mass murderer Hans Frank lived in the neighboring house , a few doors down the Sudeten German politician and National Socialist Konrad Henlein . ”Ultimately, mother and daughter had to leave the city, the house was“ Aryanized ”.
