List of stumbling blocks in Olomouc
The list of stumbling blocks in Olomouc contains the stumbling blocks in Olomouc , the administrative seat of the Olomoucký kraj (Olomouc Region) in the Czech Republic . Stumbling blocks remind of the fate of the people who were murdered, deported, expelled or driven to suicide by the National Socialists . The Stolpersteine were designed by Gunter Demnig (* 1947); In Olomouc in particular, however, the relocation is also being initiated and taken over by other initiatives and groups.
The Czech stumbling block project Stolpersteine.cz , which helped initiate the laying in the Czech Republic, was launched in 2008 by the Česká unie židovské mládeže (Czech Union of Jewish Youth); however, this project has not been active since around 2016. The stumbling blocks are usually in front of the last self-chosen place of residence of the victim. The stumbling blocks are to Czech stumbling blocks called alternatively kameny zmizelých (stones of the disappeared).
On November 14, 2017, the city's senator, Lumír Kantor, in cooperation with the Jewish community of Olomouc , also installed a so-called “ trip threshold ”, the first in the Czech Republic. At the same time, another 26 stumbling blocks were laid, bringing their total to 213 at this point in time. The trip threshold is on the sidewalk in Hálkova ulice in front of the primary school there, a collection point for the deportees before they are moved from the nearby train station. A total of 3498 Jewish residents from Olomouc were deported to concentration camps during the German occupation of the country , of which only about 200 survived the Holocaust .

- organized and carried out on November 14, 2017 by the Jewish Community of Olomouc in cooperation with the city's senate (plus a stumbling block)
- on October 4 and 12, 2018, 20 and 8 stumbling blocks respectively; initiated by the Jewish community of Olomouc, relatives of the victims and with the participation of the mayor of the city and the minister of culture of the Czech Republic
Remarks
- ↑ In Olomouc, the Jewish Community of Olomouc (Židovská obec Olomouc) very active, who also restored a database of victims and introduced into the network - see kehila-olomouc.cz / ... .
- ↑ There are also higher numbers of victims, for example "3508 people [in four transports] from Olomouc and other nearby communities", of which only "295 survived"; see Z olomoucké školy odjížděli lidé na smrt. Teď je v chodníku stumbling block , report in Olomoucký deník from November 15, 2017, online at: olomoucky.denik.cz / ...
- ↑ The place of death Theresienstadt, as it appears on the Stolperstein and can be seen on the page kehila-olomouc /.../ Renata Berlová , is reproduced there in the copy of the inscription with "murdered in Treblinka"; immediately below in the section "other known dates", however, Theresienstadt is again given as the place of death, and in the death certificate (death report) on the same page the place of issue is also given as Theresienstadt.
- ↑ The date of death September 1, 1942, which is stated on the stumbling block, cannot be correct: even the initiator of the relocation writes "September 5, 1942" in the text of the inscription (see kehila /.../ Olga Eislerová ); The transport left Be Theresienstadt on September 1 and reached Raasiku on September 5, 1942, after which most of the deportees were shot; this date is also consistently given in several sources ( shoah.deportal.cz / ... , tenhumbergreinhard.de/transportliste ... , pametnaroda.cz / ... , books google / Transporte ... and others).
- ↑ Bedřich Hersch, b. 1895, is not identical to Bedřich Hersch, b. 1924, who was murdered in Auschwitz (see holocaust.cz/...hersch ).
