Stumbling blocks for the Lustig family in Ratenice

The list of stumbling blocks in Ratenice contains the stumbling blocks that were laid in Ratenice in Okres Kolín . They remind of the fate of the people who were deported and murdered by the National Socialists in the Czech Republic. The Stolpersteine ​​were laid by Gunter Demnig on October 29, 2012. The stumbling blocks are to Czech stumbling blocks called alternatively kameny zmizelých (stones of the disappeared). The Czech stumbling block project Stolpersteine.cz was launched in 2008 by the Česká unie židovské mládeže (Czech Union of Jewish Youth) and was under the patronage of the Prague Mayor. The stumbling blocks are in front of or in the immediate vicinity of the last self-chosen place of residence of the victims.

Josef Lustig was born in 1887. His mother was Berta Lustigová. He was deported to Theresienstadt concentration camp in February 1945 . There he became seriously ill due to depression, hunger and poor hygiene. Although he experienced the liberation of Nazi Germany and was able to return home, he died in 1945. His mother was murdered in Treblinka, his brother Ota in Trawniki.

Ota Lustig was born on October 24, 1879. His mother was Berta Lustigová. On June 9, 1942, he and his mother were deported from Kolín to the Theresienstadt concentration camp on Transport AAc . His transport number was 300. On June 12, 1942, he was deported to the Trawniki forced labor camp on Transport AAk . His transport number was 886. All Jews on this transport were murdered by the Nazi regime. His mother was murdered in Treblinka, his brother Josef died in 1945 as a result of his imprisonment in a concentration camp.

Berta Lustigová was born on September 25, 1861. She had at least two sons, Ota Lustig, born in 1879, and Josef Lustig, born in 1887. Their last residence before the deportation was in Ratenice. On June 9, 1942, she and her son Ota Lustig were deported from Kolín to the Theresienstadt concentration camp on Transport AAc . Her transport number was 299. On October 22, 1942, she was deported to the Treblinka extermination camp with Transport AAk . Her transport number was 1039. All Jews on this transport were murdered by the Nazi regime. Both sons were also put to death.
