The cinema is located between the two parts of the large estate, not far from the Hohenschönhausen S and long-distance train station and the shopping center . The new buildings in what was then the Hohenschönhausen district had been built since the mid-1980s as part of the housing program on Falkenberger and Wartenberger Flur , where the Rieselfeld area still existed until the 1970s. The movie theater was built as an element of the infrastructure for the cinema supply of this large settlement and embedded settlement areas. The multiplex cinema of CinemaxX Group has been offering record time of seven months on 11 December 1998th The cinema building has 2000 seats in nine cinema halls, plus a restaurant and an arcade. These are mainly recorded with Hollywood films in a synchronized version. It was operated as Cinemaxx until September 30, 2008 and on October 1, 2008 "K-Motion GmbH & Co. KG" took over. The building complex was given the name CineMotion Hohenschönhausen accordingly . All halls have a high angle of inclination and a wide row spacing for a good view of the screen and wheelchair-accessible access. The nine independently playable cinemas are equipped with digital projection and Dolby Digital according to the construction time . In 1998, according to the operator, all halls were built according to the THX standard , although only two halls were equipped with the THX seal of approval when the building opened . Since the end of 2009, some newer projectors with 3D projection options have been installed.

The cinema building designed by architect Helmut Sprenger is located on the site of the former lecture hall of the teacher training institute . Prefabricated parts specially tailored for the CinemaxX made the rectangular construction possible. In addition to the main entrances, two silver pillars support a transverse dove-blue parapet (initially) with the lettering of the cinema chain CinemaxX and, following the logo of CineMotion . The ceiling-high foyer, clad with sun protection glass, is illuminated by a large number of halogen spots and complemented by the typical anthracite-colored CinemaxX carpet with colored stars. The floor in the front foyer area is gray and covered with natural stone. In the rear foyer area, the blue neon tubes parallel to the floating ceiling are no longer in operation since the operator changed. A maximum of two of the four checkout counters in the foyer are occupied.

annotation

  1. No other CinemaxX cinema in Germany was approved and set up so quickly. The imbau Berlin GmbH , which emerged from a GDR combine operation under project manager Andreas Pöthke, was awarded the contract for the construction of the cinema because of the short construction time that experts considered impossible. In cooperation with 38 companies based locally and in the surrounding area, construction took place with the laying of the foundation stone in May 1998, the topping-out ceremony in August and the opening on December 11th.
