Monument text:

The present laundry mangle is probably a box mangle made between 1800 and 1830, the stone box of which could be set in motion by means of a hand crank, flywheel, toothed gear, wooden shaft and chain and the laundry rolled up on the wooden rollers below could be smoothed.

It is one of the earliest laundry ironers that have survived in Saxony, and is therefore an important testimony to the beginning of a technological development, namely the gradual mechanization of housekeeping since around the beginning of the 19th century. In addition, in contrast to other box ironers that have been preserved from factory production, there is still carpentry work here, which underlines the special value of the construction. In addition to the importance of the lack of crate in terms of technology history, the importance of housekeeping history must still be listed, as the laborious process of washing the laundry can still be read from it today. Likewise, in its function as a deficiency for the local population, it also has a local historical significance. In addition to the rarity of the lack of boxes and the scientific and documentary significance, the great memory value of such a lack of boxes should not be ignored. (LfD / 2012).

Half-timbered upper floor, half-hipped roof, two storeys, half-timbered with brick infill, old roof structure, old plain tile covering, wooden window frames, old windows, sandstone sills, brick infill monastery format, house with cellar, ground floor made of clay (solid), stable with Prussian cap, cellar, well-preserved Lack of laundry in the side building - 2012 side building ruin and partly collapsed, lack of laundry not to be seen, therefore recorded as demolition.

Saxon postal mile pillars (totality): Post mile pillar
Saxon postal mile pillars (totality): Post mile pillar Mittelstrasse 21 (opposite)
(map)
re. 1722 Probably a copy of a quarter mile stone, Poststrasse Dresden – Waldheim – Colditz – Grimma – Leipzig of regional and transport historical importance.

The quarter milestone considered here is probably a copy of which the exact date of manufacture is not known. The stone is made of porphyry and is marked with the year 1722, the initials "AR", the post horn mark and the row number 47 on the narrow side. 1988 original stone found again, set up again in 1995. In 1722, the Electorate of Saxony began to erect the Saxon post-mile pillars. Elector Friedrich August I wanted to build a modern traffic and transport control system in the electorate in order to promote trade and economy. He entrusted Magister Adam Friedrich Zürner (1679 - 1742) with the implementation. The system of post mile pillars comprised distance pillars, quarter milestones, half and full mile pillars. The distance columns should be set up in the cities in front of the city gates, later only on the marketplaces. Quarter milestones, half and full mile pillars were set up along the Poststrasse. They received a consecutive numbering (row number), starting from the beginning of the measurement. The all-mile columns were set up outside the cities on the post roads at a distance of 1 mile (= 9.062 km). The distance pillars were marked with the monogram "AR" for "Augustus Rex", the Electoral Saxon and Polish-Lithuanian double coat of arms and the Polish royal crown. The full mile, half mile columns and quarter milestones were all similarly labeled, none of them had a coat of arms, but the monogram "AR". The distances were given in hours (1 hour = ½ post mile = 4.531 km). This mile system was the first European traffic management system. The pillar considered here is of great importance in the history of traffic as part of the nationally significant postal system. (LfD / 2013).
