List of cities in Saudi Arabia

The list of cities in Saudi Arabia provides an overview of the population development in the larger cities of the Middle East state of Saudi Arabia .

The largest city in Saudi Arabia is Riyadh with 5,188,286 inhabitants ( 2010 census ). This means that around 13.5 percent of the country's people live in the capital. Mecca and Medina are considered Haram (holy district) and are therefore completely closed to non-Muslims.

The following table contains the cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants, their names in international spelling or in German transcription and in Arabic as well as the results of the population censuses (VZ) of September 9, 1974, September 27, 1992, September 15, 2004 and September 28 April 2010. The province to which the city belongs is also listed. The population figures refer to the actual city without the suburbs.
