The originally Romanesque nave of the church was probably built at the end of the 12th century. The Gothic choir and sacristy date from the beginning of the 14th century. In the 17th and 18th centuries the church was redesigned and expanded in baroque style. The altar sheet on the high altar is the work of the baroque painter Franz Anton Maulbertsch .

The formerly Gothic hall church was changed to Baroque style in the first half of the 18th century . Balthasar Rosaforte created the altarpiece on the high altar in 1732, two figures of saints from the first half of the 18th century were made by Rochus Mayerhofer.
