A foundation to the Hollersbach church is mentioned in a document as early as 1359. From this it can be concluded that a church existed before. In 1891 pastor Marin Buchner found the church too small, too poor and unworthy. According to the plans of a master builder Ferdinand Ranggetiner in Mittersill, a new church was built in 1892/93. In 1900 the old tower was demolished and replaced by a new one, the current one.
