At first there was only a wooden chapel in Aufhausen. It was bricked up around 1525 and burned down in 1580 after a fire broke out in the neighboring Mußbachgut. The current church dates from 1716. In 1854 a fire broke out again in the Mußbachgut and also seized the church. The old dome tower collapsed. The bells were also destroyed. A little later a pointed tower with curved edges was added. The church is a branch church of St. Laurentius .

The church goes back to a pre-Romanesque hall church from the 9th or 10th century. In the 12th or 13th century it was converted into a Romanesque double church. Shortly after 1400, the St. Michael's Chapel was added to the south side; it served as a sacristy from 1715 to 1989. It contains stencil paintings from the beginning of the 15th century. The Laurenzikirche itself was converted into a Gothic hall church and expanded in the middle of the 15th century. In 1613 a new high altar was built. Only the remains of the old Gothic altars have survived. On the one hand there is a statue of Our Lady with Child Jesus (around 1520) and on the other hand a Pietà .
