The Lohninghof was once the first and most important estate in Thumersbach. Around 1400 it was still called Liebhardhof (named after the owner Liebhard). In 1527 he was bought by a certain Leonhard Laninger and the name that is still valid today comes from him. From 1711 the estate belonged to a French cloth merchant. In 1906 it was sold to the Swiss Benz and Meisel. Parts of the farm were then sold to different owners. Today's Riemannpark was once part of the Lohninggut. When they needed money one day and wanted to cut down the deciduous forest in the Bucherau, a Rudolf Riemann bought the whole meadow. The park has been owned by the city since 1940, as has the Lohninghof building, which is now used as a cultural center.

The age of the church is not known, but it shows the oldest structural elements of the Pinzgau. The first tower stood on the south side in the place of today's sacristy anteroom. In the upper sacristy you can still see the remains of the spiral staircase of the tower.

The jewel of the church is undoubtedly the gallery with a magnificent parapet. The gallery rests on four differently crafted marble columns, between which a net vault is stretched. The 3 pointed arches carry a lot of crabs, go over into pointed turrets and finials. Between the three arches there are Gothic canopies with the carved figures of St. Hippolyth and St. Florian from 1520.
