There is talk of a church in Fusch as early as 1313, but due to the way over the Tauern a church or chapel should have existed much earlier.

A chapel was inserted between the tower and the nave until 1713. However, this was removed and the church expanded considerably. In 1779 the church received a new high altar. In the tower, which is 35 meters high, hangs a bell from 1775.

According to ancient writings, a sedate church with 2 towers stood on a hill in Bad Fusch as early as 1417 .

The Wolfgang Church used to be a pilgrimage church. This was badly damaged by avalanches in 1643 and 1686 and torn in two by another avalanche in 1702.
After reconstruction, an avalanche was triggered again in the very snowy year of 1844. The bell tower and the roof structure were "thrown down into the ditch". The masonry was torn and the ceiling split; the whole church full of snow.
Between 1848 and 1851 a new chapel was built in the same place and over the next few years the spa guests provided some of the essentials.
