The ruin, which was once a watchtower and residential tower, rises 25 meters above Gutshof Weyer, about 2 km west of Bramberg , at the junction into the Habach Valley . The first, documentary mention comes from 1229. The castle had a steep slope towards the south, but only a shallow ditch towards the north, which was followed by a pond. Hence the name. The "Veste" consisted of 2 buildings, the eastern wooden structure stood on a small hill. The remains of the foundation wall are heavily overgrown and hardly recognizable. The tower is 14 by 10 meters in plan and dates from around 1270. It is said to have been up to 7 stories high.

In 1150 a priest was first mentioned by "Prentenperige" (an old name for Bramberg). One should be able to assume that a church already existed at this time, otherwise a priest would not have been needed. From 1243 it existed as a parish for the Oberpinzgau ( Hollersbach to Krimml ). In 1555 Neukirchen , Wald and Krimml were separated.

The late Gothic, single-nave walled pillar church with north tower that exists today was built between 1505 and 1511. In 1765 the high altar picture was created by a Johann Michael Kurz, which was destroyed by fire in 1937. In 1938 Max Poosch from Salzburg made the new altarpiece with the torture of St. Laurentius. The baptismal font from 1733 was created by Franz Ofner, the organ from 1892 by Matthäus Mauracher.
On the cross altar is the Pietà von Bramberg, the Lamentation of Mary as a stone cast from 1390 and is said to be the oldest work of art in the Upper Pinzgau region.

The Weyerkirchlein next to the street is a Gothic building and was probably built after the plague years of 1482 and 1495. The interior and the high altar are designed in noble baroque. Instead of a tabernacle, there is a Gothic statue of Sebastian from around 1500. The pulpit is from 1630.

During a renovation in 1952, murals in Secco painting came to light. They date from the 17th century and showed depictions of saints, the sacrifice of Isaac and the Annunciation. But they were in very bad condition, which is why they were whitewashed again.

The village chapel was built by the landlord Gregor Perger in 1696. The chapel still has pointed arched windows and a pointed arched door, although the Gothic was long gone. Inside the little church hides a representation of the popular saint Sorrows, which is entwined with a beautiful legend. Also noteworthy is the Way of the Cross, an excellent reverse glass painting.

The memorial stands at the entrance to Mühlbach on a bricked granite base. The sculpture appears to have been chiseled from a block of cast stone and shows the freedom fighter with a broad-brimmed hat under his arm.

About Hans Panzl:
Hans Panzl was born in 1786 in the manager's inn in Mühlbach. He was a bright boy, but he got up for a fight early on. In 1805, when the French marched in, Hans Panzl and the Tyrolean riflemen moved to the Strub Pass . Here he is said to have particularly distinguished himself through his cold-bloodedness. In the spring of 1809, after the renewed outbreak of war, he was elected captain of a rifle company and his commander-in-chief Anton Wallner entrusted him with the most difficult military tasks. The fight at the Taxenbacher half-hour bridge, which Panzl with Wallner and 400 riflemen defended against 7000 Bavarians for 7 hours is well known.

The house, which is essentially medieval, was originally a farmhouse and, together with the 'Hausfeld', was bought by the Augsburg trade union Mannlich in 1570. In 1638 it came into the possession of the Prince Archbishop of Salzburg along with the other mining and operational buildings and housed the mining administration for the area from Zell am See (Limberg) to Krimml. With the incorporation of the Archdiocese of Salzburg into the Austro-Hungarian monarchy , the house became the seat of the Imperial and Royal Mining and Huts Office until the mining operations were closed in 1864. Subsequently, the house was the seat of the Imperial and Royal Forestry Administration and, after the end of the monarchy, the seat of the Austrian federal forests . The former Verweserhaus has been the office and information center of the Bramberg Mining Research Center since 2000.
