Hollersbach im Pinzgau is an Austrian municipality in the Zell am See (Pinzgau) district, Salzburger Land with 1244 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). It is located in the Oberpinzgau region , about 4.5 km from the main town of Mittersill , and 32 km from the district capital Zell am See and, together with the southern part of the Hollersbach valley, belongs to the Hohe Tauern national park communities .
origin of the name
According to Lahnsteiner, the place name can be traced back to the numerous elder bushes at the exit of the valley , which gave the place its name for this tributary to the Salzach .
geography
The center of Hollersbach is located at an altitude of 806 meters at the entrance of the Hollersbach valley, on the right - southern, shady - bank of the Salzach . The eponymous Hollersbach, which rises in the Hohe Tauern, flows into the Salzach shortly after the town center, north of Gerlosstrasse . With an area of 77 km², Hollersbach is one of the medium-sized communities in the Zell am See district.

The community consists of the two cadastral communities Hollersbach and Jochberg .
In 1936, as part of the unification of Mittersill-Markt and -Land, some areas of Arndorf , Rettenbach , Lämmerbichl and Jochberg were ceded to Hollersbach. From 1939 to 1945, when large communities were built all over Austria after the annexation, Hollersbach was completely incorporated into Mittersill. When Hollersbach became its own municipality again after the Second World War , the borders were redrawn.
The municipality of Hollersbach has a registry office and maintains the citizenship record for the entire municipality.
Hollersbach was part of the Mittersill judicial district until 2002 and has been part of the Zell am See judicial district since 2003 .
Together with eight other Oberpinzgau communities, Hollersbach forms the Oberpinzgau regional association.
The municipality is, together with the other Oberpinzgau municipalities up to Krimml, part of the Oberpinzgau West cleanliness association, which is responsible for the infrastructure relating to the sewer system and the proper disposal of waste water from the region.
In elections to the Austrian National Council (Austria), the Hollersbach electoral district is part of the Lungau / Pinzgau / Pongau (5c) regional constituency and the Salzburg regional constituency . In the Salzburg state elections for the Zell am See electoral district (6).

history
Hollersbach was first mentioned in a document in 1160. The neo-Romanesque parish church of St. Vitus dates from 1893, the previous church from the 14th century was demolished beforehand.

The coat of arms of the municipality is "slanted law by a half and three whole peaks red front silver divided and is above a lower right and left farbverwechselte golden inseminated elderberry blossom ."
The crest is speaking : the elder (the Austro-südbair room also. Holler ) on (meandering) Bach.

Culture and sights
- The cath. Parish church of St. Vitus is furnished with neo-Romanesque furnishings. The slender tower has a pointed helmet and was not completed until 1900. Four bells from the bell foundry Hamm & Hartner from Grödig near Salzburg ring in the church tower .
- Klausnerhaus: documented since 1350. The Klausnerhaus is a typical Pinzgau farm with quarry stone wall and wooden upper and attic floors. The Klausnerhaus currently houses the ORF National Park Studio, an information point for the National Park, a seminar center and an exhibition of medicinal herbs - the medicinal knowledge of the Pinzgau women was declared an intangible UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010 .
- Panoramabahn: In 2004/05 a feeder gondola to the ski area of Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel on Pass Thurn was built in Hollersbach .
- Kunsthalle Kramerstall: The Kunsthalle Kramerstall is located in the center of Hollersbach and serves as the home of the Hollersbach Culture Association for the Hollersbach International Painting Weeks. There are 3 studios of different sizes in this property, which can be rented as rental studios by interested artists during the year.
