Catholic parish church hl. James d. Ä. and cemetery ObjectID : 60614 |
Oberkrimml location KG: Krimml |
The Krimml Church is first mentioned in a document around 1244. At that time, Archbishop Eberhard II gave the Raitenhaslach monastery a 'hat near the churches in the Khrumbe'. The oldest part of the church now standing, the chancel, dates from before 1250. The jewel of the church is probably the Gothic Madonna from 1480, which was severely trimmed with a hoe in the baroque period in order to be able to put a dress on her. It was not until 1934 that an attempt was made to restore the original condition. The sculptor Adlhart (from Hallein) also added two foot angels on this occasion. Two very old bells have been preserved, the weather bell from 1537 and the train bell from 1615. |

When the war between Austria and France (Napoléon) broke out in 1809, Andreas Hofer entrusted Anton Wallner - then known as one of the best bullet shooters - with the organization of the national defense of Salzburg.
