List of tallest no longer existing buildings
The list of tallest no longer existing buildings contains a list of all high-rise buildings over 100 meters high that have already been demolished or destroyed. This can be done, for example, by demolition , blasting , but also in other ways.
description
The tallest building that no longer exists is the World Trade Center complex in New York City , which was completely destroyed by a terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 . With a total height of 417 meters, the north tower was also for a short time the tallest skyscraper in the world. This title was also held by the New York Singer Building , which, with a height of 187 meters, is still the highest planned demolished building in the world. It was demolished in 1968 after the skyscraper had lived for 60 years, together with the neighboring City Investing Building . The title of the tallest abandoned skyscraper will go to the 215-meter-high JP Morgan World Headquarters at 270 Park Avenue, also in New York City , at the beginning of the next decade , the demolition of which will begin in 2019 and will last for 2 years. The high-rise building on the Raderberggürtel in Cologne has been planned to be demolished by blasting for several years . At 138 meters it would be the highest building ever blown up, but the date has been postponed several times. The Frankfurt AfE tower remains the tallest blown building in Germany and the Bayer high-rise in Leverkusen the tallest that no longer exists.
