tourism
Most tourists only get to see Loay briefly in transit, as the city is on the route from Tagbilaran to the much-visited Chocolate Hills inland. In Loay itself, for example, the Loay River Cruise is an attraction. A rich buffet with various typical Filipino specialties is offered on floating restaurant boats during the journey up the river.
In Loay there is a church from the 19th century built from coral stone blocks with a separate, free-standing bell tower, as well as the Clarin Anchestral House . This Filipino-Spanish style house from the mid-19th century, which is now a museum, is reminiscent of the Spanish colonial days of Bohol and is a typical example of the usual homes of wealthy and influential residents at the time. Today uninhabited, members of the Clarin family, one of the most influential and politically very active Bohol clan , lived in this house for many decades .
