The locomotive 2 of the Timișoara tram - Romanian Locomotiva 2 , abbreviated L2 - is a service vehicle of the aforementioned tram company that has now been decommissioned . The two-axle machine with a central driver's cab and pantograph was built in 1928 as a self -construction of the tram company known at the time as Tramvaiele Comunale Timișoara . The electrical equipment was supplied by the Siemens-Schuckert works in Budapest , the weight of the locomotive is 13,000 kilograms.

history

The project planning of the machine, which took place in 1927, was necessary because the increasingly successful tram freight traffic in the Fabrik district - over the years more and more companies were connected - could no longer be managed alone with Locomotive 1, which was procured to start operations in 1916 . In 1956, the tram company finally acquired another machine, Locomotive 3 .

With the reduction in freight traffic on the tram tracks in 1975, the locomotive, together with the L3, became the property of the Timișoreana brewery . After the transport of the freight wagons to and from the brewery as well as the connection of the Guban shoe factory was finally taken over by diesel locomotives of the state railway Căile Ferate Române (CFR) in 1993 , the L2 served together with the L3 as a shunting locomotive on the brewery premises until at least 1996 . Then the L3 took over this task alone, which meant that the L2 could finally be dispensed with. It was then parked on the brewery's premises for a few years before its exterior was finally refurbished in 2007 and erected on a short track yoke within the brewery's premises as a technical monument .

Over the years, the L2 also changed its paintwork several times. Originally - like most of the work cars at the time - it was painted dark green. It was then - like the L3 - painted blue-gray, before it was painted completely blue in 2007 when it was erected as a monument.
