The locomotive 3 tram Timişoara - Romanian Locomotiva 3 , abbreviated L3 - is a former official vehicle of the aforementioned tramway operations . The four-axle electric locomotive with a central driver's cab was planned in 1955 and completed in 1956; it was built by the tram company known at the time as Întreprinderea de Transport, Apă și Salubritate (ITAS). The engine output of the machine was four times 36 kilowatts.

history

The construction of locomotive 3 was necessary because the increasingly successful tram transport in the Fabrik district - over the years, more and more companies were connected - with the locomotive 1 (L1) delivered in 1916 and the self-built locomotive 2 (L2) no longer could be mastered alone.

With the reduction in freight traffic on the tram tracks in 1975, the locomotive, together with the L2, became the property of the Timișoreana brewery . After the transport of the freight wagons to and from the brewery as well as the connection of the Guban shoe factory was taken over directly by diesel locomotives of the State Railroad Căile Ferate Române (CFR) in 1993 , the L3 served only as a shunting locomotive on the factory premises.

The machine finally went out of service in 2003 when the siding to the brewery was abandoned. It was then parked on the premises of the brewery together with the L2, which was retired in the second half of the 1990s. It was derailed there in 2008. On January 15, 2015, it was returned to the tram company for the purpose of museum preservation and has since been stored in the Dâmbovița tram depot. In contrast to the L2, which is a monument locomotive on the brewery premises, the L3 has not yet been refurbished and is in a poor state of preservation.

Over the years, the L3 changed its paintwork several times. Originally - like most of the work cars at the time - it was painted dark green, this was the case until at least 1980. It was then painted blue and gray like the L2 before it was repainted in yellow and white in 1995/1996. Since around 2000, the L3 has finally been painted completely yellow.
